A professional Gamemaster (or GM) is an expert who runs a tabletop roleplaying game for you and your group. They handle all of the preparation - from designing the story and non player characters to managing the rules - so you and your friends can simply show up, create your characters, and enjoy the adventure. It's a premium, stress-free way to experience games like Dungeons & Dragons.
A Gamemaster is known by a variety of different names depending on the game systems, so they might be called:
A Dungeon Master for Dungeons and Dragons.
A Narrator for Daggerheart.
A Keeper for Call of Cthulhu.
A Game Mother for Alien Roleplay Game.
and many more.
A Gamemaster can also refer to an expert in running Board Game events, here they take on a different role as a "Game Guru" and help with a variety of different tasks:
Curate a selection of games that are perfect for people attending the event.
Handle all the setup and organization, ensuring everything is ready to go.
Teach the games, providing clear and concise rules explanations so everyone can jump right into the fun.
Stay on hand to answer questions and keep the games running smoothly, ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Short answer, Yes, Board Games and Tabletop Roleplay games are an amazing way for children to spend their free time, socialising, and not on a screen.
Our Approach to Age-Appropriate Gaming
At Pen and Board, ensuring a safe and fun experience is our top priority. Before starting any game with children, we will always:
Communicate with you, the parent: We will have a conversation about your child's age, maturity level, and what themes you are comfortable with.
Tailor the experience: We can adjust the game's content, and tone to fit the group. This means downplaying scary monsters, focusing on creative solutions instead of combat, and telling age-appropriate stories that are perfect for their age group.
Our goal is to provide a positive and engaging experience for your children. If you have a specific game in mind, let's talk about it, and I can give you a more detailed overview of its suitability.
